MSc Finance (Economic Policy)

I completed my undergraduate degree with a major in Public and Private Sector Management at the University of Malta. I was subsequently employed as an Economics Officer at the Economic Policy Department within the Ministry of Finance, the Economy and Investment. Consequently, after a couple of years in this position, it was only natural to further my studies in the field of economics, in particular economic policy.

The MSc Finance with a major in Economic Policy best suited my skills and objectives, expanding my discernment of financial markets, the basic economic and public policy tools, and their expected impact on economic performance. This programme proved ideal for my circumstances. Notwithstanding the ability to manage work, study and family life – benefits resulting from the provision of the programme through distance learning – it was still possible to interact with fellow students and tutors via the interactive platform with links to course notes, and discussion forums.

The core courses were challenging, stimulating, and informative with a hands-on approach to learning beyond theory, making learning applicable to my work and career. The elective courses were numerous and represented a wide array of topics, matching my needs and interests.

I finished the programme within a two-year period. During my studies, which were in part sponsored by my employer, I was promoted and am now employed in a more senior position as Economics Analyst. Enrolment in the MSc programme certainly aided my career progression, as it showed an ability to be challenged, dedicated and be goal driven.
